Discussion:
msjava.dll missing in Windows Server 2003
(too old to reply)

I'm migrating my application from Windows 2000 Server to Windows
Server 2003. I realize that Windows Server 2003 doesn't contain
msjava.dll. Is that right?

Where can I download the right version and install it to Windows
Server 2003?

Thanks
Dom

Hi Dom,

Thanks for your posting here.

Windows Server 2003 does not include the Java VM. I would like to recommend
that you go to Sun's website and install their VM.

For your reference, Sun Java VM can be downloaded at:

http://www.java.com/en/

The install guide can be found at:
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/win_manual.jsp

Have a nice day!

Thank you, Bob.

I did follow your suggestion and installed Sun JRE 1.4.1, but it still
didn't work in my case. My application calls Java classes through COM
using msjava.dll. It used to work in Windows 2000 server, where
msjava.dll is present. However, it no longer works in Windows 2003
server, where msjava is absent. That's why I asked how we can install
the missing msjava.dll in Windows 2003 server. Unfortunately,
installation of Sun JRE 1.4.1 doesn't really install this msjava.dll
either.

Please refer to my question in another posting.

Any suggestion?

Hi Dominic,

You can try to copy a msjava.dll file for a Windows 2000 system to the
Windows Server 2003, the run the following command.

regsvr32 msjava.dll

In addition, I would like to suggest that you post your questions to the
following news groups:

microsoft.public.java.vm.migration
microsoft.public.java.vm
microsoft.public.vb.com

I believe that you can get informative answers there.

More Developer newsgroups can be found in the link below:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp

You can also ask for developer support:

Thank you for using our newsgroup!

Thanks again, Bob.

I did follow what you suggested by copying the msjava.dll from Windows
2000 Server machine to Windows Server 2003. I also did regsvr32 it
too. However, the call to the java class returned "The call threw an
exception
saying "Not enough storage to complete this operation"

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Hi Dominic,

I am not sure how the application is designed and it is hard to determine
what is the root cause in your application. As for this issue, it will be
better that you contact our developer support or developer newsgroup.
